VT’s First Farmers Market!

7 November 2019

A bright and sunny Thursday 6th November saw the launch of our new midweek farmer’s market! Artisan bakery The Celtic Bakers brought a delicious variety of organic breads, cakes and pastries and Brambletye Fruit Farm arrived with delicious produce from their biodynamic farm. The wonderful music playing outside invited curious passers-by to discover the View Tube and both stalls stirred up excitement and some very hungry stomachs!

A steady stream of locals, people working in the area and travellers alike dropped by throughout the day, sampling the wide range of foods available with breads, pastries, veg and apple juices being among the most popular. From inquisitive buyers of oyster and shiitake mushrooms, to mums treating their little ones to yummy carrot cake, there was a strong consensus that midweek markets enable greater access to regular, local produce and is something we’d all love to see more of!

We’d like to thank everyone for supporting our market and sharing an ethos of fresh, organic, and sustainable food buying. It was great to see people from Stratford, Forest Gate and beyond coming down to the View Tube, enjoying the community atmosphere and having delicious coffee or lunch at the cafe after stocking up on groceries- isn’t it a wonderful way to do your food shopping! We hope to make the market a regular addition to the View Tube – and we’re already lining up stalls for next week and beyond. We’ll be updating you shortly with what you can expect to indulge in!
