VT Cinema: ‘Us’

8 November 2019

Our latest instalment of VT cinema with The New Black Film Collective welcomed a fantastic turnout of film lovers to our a screening of the movie ‘Us’, followed by a movie breakdown by Bro Hakim a.k.a. The Film Doctor.

After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, GET OUT, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returned with another original nightmare, his film ‘Us’, which enthralled our audience and opened the floor for a in depth discussion with Bro Hakim about symbolism, perspective, meaning and referencing within the film.

Cinema nights at the View Tube foster a community atmosphere where people can not only relax and enjoy great films, but also share a dialogue where different thoughts and ideas can be shared and discussed. The result is a deeper understanding of a film’s plot, producers, and meaning conveyed in their productions, which is so often missed from the typical cinema experience. VT Cinema nights are also a great chance to get to know local people and meet other Londoners who’ve come to share a common interest, deepen their knowledge of films, or to simply enjoy a great movie, with some great food and make new friends!

Below are some of the responses from our guests after the movie and breakdown- fantastic to see that people came from all over London and engaged in the film’s discussion. If you’d like to join us for our next screening we’ll be waiting for you! We are confirming the film and times, so check back shortly for more info!
