Bow Back Rivers Green Clean

25 September 2018

On Sunday 23rd September, a group of East London volunteers joined forces with Campaign to Protect Rural England London (CPRE) to get the Bow Back Rivers looking fresh and clean.

Around 20 volunteers braved the rain and met at the View Tube bright and early to get going. Litter pickers in hand, they were ready to fill their bin bags! As well as collecting litter, the CPRE Green Cleaners were recording the quantity and type of litter they found. This information will help deliver innovative solutions to England’s litter problem by increasing recycling and changing behaviours to reduce litter levels further.

In total they managed to collect 79kg of litter including, 602 bottles & cans and even a trolley – amazing work!

This event was part of a nationwide Green Clean initiative to highlight the huge volume of bottles and cans that litter many of our most precious green spaces.

After the litter pick, the volunteers were treated to some tea and cake from the View Tube Cafe.
