Green Clean Litterpick

Around 20 dedicated volunteers joined CPRE London’s ‘green clean’ litterpick earlier in September at the View Tube! They cleared part of the Green Way and paths along the waterways in the south of the Olympic Park in Newham, in partnership with the Friends of Bow Back Rivers and Poplar Harca, and refreshments kindly provided by Thames Water.  Overall, they collected almost 500 drinks containers of all shapes, sizes and materials demonstrating the need for an ‘all-in’ deposit return scheme to tackle this major source of litter and encourage recycling. CPRE were delighted to see provision for such a scheme was subsequently included in the Government’s Environment Bill.
